2014 EU reissue on 180g vinyl LP - A Classic ... Since 1966 one of the most original and greatest Film scores in History. This original soundtrack recording for this classic 1966 Italian spaghetti western directed by Sergio Leone. The theme is Morricone's most famous composition, and it topped the charts in the U.S. & Europe when covered by Hugo Montenegro. Moments of intense musical drama & beauty appear here, and there's a traditional element with a brassy feel to it, with thundering percussion, varied voices, lots of bells, surf guitars, piano & more.

Both the The Good, The Bad And The Ugly film and its motion picture soundtrack are legendary in their own right. Movie star and major film director Clint Eastwood starred in this third and final installment of the Dollars Trilogy whose style became known as a “Spaghetti Western” since they were shot in Italy. Sergio Leone directed the 1966 film and his go-to guy, renowned Italian musician-composer-conductor-arranger Ennio Morricone wrote its compelling score.

In the most traditional sense, the music accompanies the storyline and on-screen action of this Western - with its gunfights, violence and the inevitable search for gold - that was captured on film with exquisite cinematography. But the music registers solidly on its own merits with its evocative dynamics, melodic compositions and, of course, the highly memorable and unique whistling and exotic wah-wah-wah sound of the main title that opens this must have original album reissue on vinyl.
