Zotac is een computer onderdelen fabrikant opgericht in 2006 in Macau ,China en onstaan uit een umbrella organisatie PC Partner. De naam ZOTAC is ofkomstig van de woorden Zone en Tact en de organisatie is relatief jong en Zotact bracht pas in 2007 de eerste videokaart op de markt en gek genoeg was dat een Geforce 7300GT en niet een Geforce 5 FX5200 FX series, gezien deze FX lijn in 2003 voor het eerst is geintroduceerd ! Deze Zotac Geforce FX5200 series met een PCI interface is dan ook jaren later in 2006 en 2007 opnieuw geherintroduceerd voor de computer (OEM) en computeronderdelen markt gezien het nieuwste besturingsysteem Windows Vista in deze jaren werd gelanceerd en de Geforce 5 FX series gecertificeerde hardware was voor gebriuk met dit besturingsysteem met speciaal ontwikkelde drivers die overweg kunnen met de eerste generatie WDDM 1.0 (Windows Display Driver Model) met de vernieuwde GUI = Grafische User interface met Aero effecten zoals transparante menus en glass effecten.

Deze full Profile grafischekaart, met een full size ATX Bracket is een grafische kaart geschikt voor de PCI sloten en in dit geval heeft de grafische kaart een PCI 2.3 interface dat is het type; geschikt voor zowel 5 Volt 32-bit en 3.3Volt 32-bit PCI sloten en dat noemen we een universele PCI interface met twee inkepingen. De PCI 2.3 interface is daarnaast qua compatibiliteit en technische eigenschappen verbeterd sinds de voorgaande PCI 2.1 en PCI 2.2 kaart interface. De PCI sloten zijn de oudste en de meest voorkomende witte sloten die zijn aangebracht op moederborden sinds 1992. Deze PCI grafische kaart voldoet aan de vraag voor een autonome videokaart in systemen zonder een AGP slot (speciaal voor videokaarten) of een PCI-Express x1 x16 slot. Al wordt het gebruik van PCI sloten minder, veel moederborden worden nog steeds voorzien van deze interface. Oudere systemen en moederborden hebben meestal voldoende PCI interface sloten voor de uitbreiding van insteekkaarten.

Het aanbod aan PCI videokaarten is beperkt omdat de PCI sloten niet echt zijn ontworpen voor grafische kaarten gezien de PCI bus langzamer is dan de interfaces die speciaal voor grafische kaarten zijn ontworpen, zoals een AGP slot en de opvolger PCI-Express. PCI sloten zijn langzamer dan de andere sloten en snelheid is van belang bij de grafische prestaties in Games en zware beeld bewerkingstaken. Echter voor de multimedia (dus alle taken met mate) gebruiker die af en toe een Game speelt is een autonome videokaart met een PCI interface een zeer goed alternatief voor onboard videoadapter en het grote aanbod van Legacy / zeer oude grafische kaarten van voor 2002

De Zotac NVIDIA Geforce FX 5 series is een degelijke entry level (FX5200) adapter/ chip aangebracht op een videokaart met een PCI 2.3 interface. Deze Geforce 5 FX-series is uitvoering waarmee men ook daadwerkelijk wat meer kan doen dan alleen Internet en Office taken. Door het beperkte aantal PCI videokaarten is de keuze vaak beperkt echter met deze Zotac Geforce 5; FX5200 kan men nog aardig wat taken uitvoeren als het gaat om multimedia 2D / 3D taken en de wens gebruik te kunnen maken van recente besturingsytemen zoals Windows Vista / 7 en Windows 8 en aangepast ondervoorbehoud met Windows 10. De NVIDIA Geforce FX5200 series voldoet namelijk aan de minimale systeemeisen als het gaat om de grafische user interface (GUI) van deze besturingsystemen. Deze GUI grafische interface vraagt minimaal DirectX 9.0 / Direct3D compatibiliteit, de ondersteuning van Shader Model 2.0 en beschikbaarheid van minimaal een WDDM 1.0 Driver (Windows Display Driver Model) voor Windows Vista / 7 voor de ondersteuning van de weergave van deze grafische interface met Aero effecten (zoals doorzichtig elementen) Deze GUI interface is ook doorgevoerd in latere Windows besturingsystemen, echter met WDDM 1.0 Driver en manuele instalatie is werking en compatibiliteit meestal gegarandeerd.

De Zotac FX5200 NVIDIA Geforce is voorzien van een snellere 64-bit geheugenbus / memory interface en dat betekend dat er voldoende bandwijdte voor het het geheugen beschikbaar is en dit resulteert in een prestatie verbeteringen ten opzichten van onboard grafische adapters
Met 128MB DDR (Double Data Rate) fysiek geheugen is de Zotac instaat om random multimedia; zoals internet multimedia, webpages,foto, film, streaming, DVD weergave en casual (retro) gaming. taken goed te kunnen uitvoeren op een ouder systeem dat is voorzien is ven degelijk specificaties met een goede CPU en voldoende RAM geheugen. Er is altijd voordeel te behalen als U deze Zotac Geforce 5200 gebruikt als vervanging van de onboard grafische adapter om dat alle grafische taken dan niet meer alleen door de systeembronnen van de computer worden
uitgevoerd, maar door de autonome videokaart.

De Geforce 5 (FX series) is de 5de generatie Grafische Processors van NVIDIA en was baanbrekend als het gaat om de CINEFX engine waarmee men Cinema realistische beelden kan weergeven met 128-bit 3D precisie kleuren. Ook is de complexere weergave mogelijkheden te danken aan de invoering van DirectX 9.0b en de eerste mogelijkheden te programmeren met Shader versie 2.0 voor pixels en Vertex zoals het uitbreiden / verdubbeling van het aantal instructies met DX9 en duizenden intructies in het 3D proces met de CINEFX Engine. Als het gaat om de kwaliteit en de complexiteit van de 2D & 3D weergave onderscheid de FX5200 zich van de voorgaande generatie. Voor deze weergave mogelijkheden had NVIDIA destijds een speciale demo ontwikkeld 'Dawn' om de mogelijkheden te tonen van realistische, levendige beelden in 3D omgevingen en (Retro) Games 2004 e.o. bijvoorbeeld, Minecraft, the Sims 1+2, Unreal Tournament,Quake, Counterstrike 1, Halflife, Call of Duty 1, Far Cry 1. Ook de weergave decoding (MPEG 2, DVD) van 2D mediabestanden is met de Geforce FX5200 verbeterd en is de weergave van digitale DVI en analoge VGA in hoge resoluties mogelijk.

I got this for an older Compaq machine that I wanted to use as a psuedo media machine in a secondary room...I only wanted it for the TV Svideo option. I could never get the VGA port to stay on past the post screen, as soon as Windows started, it would turn off, unless something was plugged into one of the other ports...kinda odd, but since I only wanted it for a TV, not a huge issue. I had disabled the onboard video also, so it was probably just something quirky...over a good buy and it works flawlessly now hooked to my regular old CRT TV. No stuttering in playback of DVD's or the visualizations used on programs like Winamp. The folks at the site of course was awesome...fast shipping and the right price...its why I'm a long time customer

i got this VC for a Dell Dimension 3000 that i fixed up for some one its rilly good for the price i payed for it and installed easly and has an inter face like the ATI's Catalyst control center witch makes getting the settings just right

I have a Dell dimension 2400 desktop with an integrated video/graphics controller (Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller) After reading the reviews on this site, I wasn't certain that the geForce FX 5200 would be much of an upgrade over what I already have. But, I installed the card last night and it is great! I've been trying to play games like Half Life2, Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Counter Strike Source, NBA Live 2004, etc. on my PC for a while. And, although these games do run, there is a considerable amount of lag and slowdown which really ruins the gameplay. Especially in games like Half Life2 where there are a lot of things on the screen at the same time. Like a huge open area. Outside maps run extremely poor. But, the geForce FX 5200 gave it enough of a boost where the games run seamlessly, with little to no lag/slowdown. The graphics are noticeable better (lighting, textures, shadows). The load times are faster. I'm very thrilled that such an inexpensive card could make such a big difference. There were maps I couldn't even play on Half Life 2: Deathmatch. But, I played them after installing this card and they run with no problems. I have never used a high-end graphics card before, so I have nothing to compare this card to. But, it is a huge improvment over my integrated graphics chip that came preinstalled from Dell.

The only thing I want to add to what other reviewers have already said is that this card DOES support the 1920x1080 resolution in Windows XP Professional and probably other operating systems. I bought it to go with a new 21.5" widescreen flatpanel monitor and was unable to find a definitive yes or no on this one question, so I was very relieved when it recognized my monitor's maximum resolution and supported it. I downloaded the latest driver from PNY, so I can't vouch for whether the drivers that came on the CD in the box support this resolution. (When I buy computer hardware I always assume that there has probably been a driver update since they packaged it.)

Anyway, I am very happy that the card does what I hoped it would: allow an old Dell Optiplex 170L with only PCI slots play nicely with a new widescreen monitor.

I purchased this card after purchasing a Windows Vista upgrade for my Dell Dimension 3000 (no AGP or PCIe slots, integrated on-motherboard video, Pentium 4 3.0 GHz, 2GB RAM). It installed in a snap, the directions were clear and well-written, and I was up and running within minutes. Windows Aero works and looks great. I'm not a gamer, so I can't vouch for how this card performs on really graphics-intensive games, but my flight simulators run smoothly.

Best of all, Vista drivers are included on the CD (and are also available for download from PNY's web site). Vista didn't think twice about hitting the ground running with this card. I'm very happy

This is an excellent card for owners of older or low end machines who cannot use newer PCI-E slots or AGP. I have a 3 year-old eMachine which this installed easily in and worked well with. Prior to installing this card, 3D games were jerky and nearly unplayable but this card fixed that up quite well.

Be forewarned though that it won't overcome the limitations of a sluggish or cheap processor. It will improve the look and feel as well as screen refresh speed. If you've got a poor integrated graphics chip which off-loads a lot of the graphics rendering tasks onto your CPU, this will help tremendously. It'll also reduce the possibility of overheating.

As a bonus, the card adds a video port as well as S-video (S-video is commonly missing from low-end PCs). S-video allows you to see your computer's screen on your television as well as interface with S-video devices (such as video capture boxes and cameras).

One note about installation though, you will probably have to disable the driver for your integrated video chip to get the card to function
