The semi-balanced connection configuration enhances the immunity to electro-magnetic interference.It means that the screens are connected to earth at only one end of the cable , so there is no signal through the screens.The earth connection is at the end where the text starts Connect the earthed end to the source device.Besides the good shielding properties of the Aluminium foil, the cores are symmettrically twisted to avoid the magnetic pickup.
