2013 EU vinyl +Download editin = Impressive debut album from the band Amsterdam My Baby impresses with a very tasty brew of blues, soul , gospel and a good pinch of funk . A very mature album with powerful vocals and hypnotic ingredients.

My Baby is from Amsterdam and consists of Cato van Dijck (vocals and guitar ) , Daniel De Vries ( guitar) and Joost van Dijck (drums and vocals ) . The highly influential bassist Larry Graham Jr. . - Who played under more has Sly and the Family Stone and Graham Central Station ( which he also founded ) - heard the band , was deeply impressed and took My Baby then in tow .

That connection with Larry Graham Jr. . perhaps explains that there is a fine portion funk influence can be heard on the record. It is also gospel , blues and soul , a lot of soul that scattered off of the album . Himself describes the band 's Facebook page their music as Delta Trance Dub Louisiana . One thing is for sure , you're definitely in a trance after listening to the record .

The album opens with No Depression what theme the great depression in the thirties of the last century broaches . A subdued song with a musical backing that is restrained , which fits the text of the song. The chorus of the song is almost gospel like. Modesty is what Mad Mountain Thyme is not correct . A menacing guitar riff that every moment seems to come to a head , then it means to be full of go . With straight leg The song reminds me regarding change of pace and intensity very similar to Mellow Down Easy in the execution of Jason Ricci & New Blood . Lovely song !
