A significant upgrade of the acclaimed original Micro iDAC, the astounding iFi Micro iDAC2 DSD DAC/headphone amplifier operates as a pure Class A design and offers True Native playback of files up to Quad DSD256 and PCM 384kHz. But the USB bus-powered iDAC2 not only handles the very latest audio formats in their pure form. Anchored by a completely new Burr-Brown chipset, this compact bellwether design includes a built-in 350mW headphone amplifier that effortlessly drives virtually any medium-sensitivity ‘phones. You get both RCA and 3.5mm headphone outputs. Want more flexibility? An S/PDIF output allows iDAC2 to receive a USB signal, convert it, and output it to music streamers and A/V amplifiers. Simply place it between your USB cable and DAC, and you'll experience lifelike audiophile sound. In simple terms, iPurifier purifies and rebalances the USB signal. iPurifier's specially designed circuit restores the signal waveform - in effect, putting the analog back into the signal. When run through the iPurifier, the signal is clean, balanced, and zero offset. What does this mean? iDAC2 (and all other iFi DACs) keeps the integrity of the file format unchanged throughout the playback process. DSD stays DSD. PCM stays PCM. So, from 16-bit/44kHz to Quad-Speed DSD256, iDAC2 handles all formats with consummate finesse. From beginning to end, you hear the music as the artist intended.

Highest-Quality Parts and Components Result In Unparalleled Performance for the Price
From Elna Silmic II capacitors and TDK C0G capacitors to Vishay MELF resistors, the Class A iDAC2 is filled with the highest-quality components and parts. It features an analog stage with two special audio-grade Elna Japan Silmic II electrolytic capacitors, the very best money can buy. They are the same as those used in top-end AMR machines. The analog stage also uses a discrete Class A buffer that combines an N-Channel J-Fet and a PNP bi-polar transistor that allows the buffer to handle loads of even 600 Ohms. iDAC2's power supply includes the new Super Regulator, a unique shunt noise filter that cleans the USB power for the DAC. iDAC2 also benefits from trickle-down technology from the Pro range via its high-grade Japanese-made Panasonic Film Capacitor for surface mounting. This, combined with a smaller value C0G capacitor, provides hyper-clean reference pin voltage.
